missouri river fly fishing
At Dancing Flies, we believe in the magic of fly fishing. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or a first-time caster, our guides are here to help you find your rhythm on the water.
DON HUDGINS III OWNER/OUTFITTER
Don, the heart and soul behind Dancing Flies, has always been happiest in the outdoors and especially on the water. With 14 years of experience under his belt, Don has turned his love for fly fishing into a lifelong adventure, guiding others to find joy and peace on the water. In his free time, Don volunteers with Project Healing Waters, an organization dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled veterans through fly fishing.
Much like a Grateful Dead concert, no two fishing trips are ever the same, and that's exactly how Don likes it. His enthusiasm for the sport is infectious, and he loves nothing more than sharing that passion with others. Whether he's helping a novice land their first catch or guiding a seasoned angler to a hidden gem of a fishing spot, Don’s mission is to ensure everyone has a good time.

We prefer to focus on the guiding so we can be out on the river and not stuck in a shop. Our trips are based out of Craig, MT and we focus primarily on fishing the Missouri River.
-
Your guide will reach out to you before your trip to confirm the details of your trip including the meet up point. We usually meet at a local fly shop before heading to the boat ramp.
-
Our answer: Anytime you can fish is a great time to fish! However, the fishing on the Missouri is exceptional from March-October.
-
Many people book their fishing trips months or even a whole year in advance. If one of our guides has committed to your trip, they cannot book others. If your reservation is cancelled within 30 days of your trip date, it is unlikely that your guide will be able to fill that day/days in such a short timeframe. We appreciate your understanding.

Tips play an important role in helping your guide cover the basic costs (shuttle, flies, lunch, beverages). While tips vary, they average around $100-$200 per guide for a full day trip.
-
We offer a variety of boxed lunches catered by our local fly shop. Please let us know ahead of time if you have any dietary restrictions.
